#Iran is tied in with #China and #Russia.US power is waning due to overextension of empire. We cannot handle a conflict with Iran especially considering the rapidly advancing aspects of asymmetric warfare.Depressed for a conflict on yet another front is absurd and the #PRC would use a USA vs Iran fray to enter #Taiwan.Zoom out and take a look at the bigger picture.

‚The last pretence of Vladimir Putin to be, as he imagines, one of his nation’s historic rulers was stripped away on June 24th. A band of armed mercenaries swept through his country almost unopposed, covering some 750km (470 miles) in a single day, seizing control of two big cities and getting to within 200km of Moscow before withdrawing unharmed.Mr Putin long ago failed as a reformer, having presided over ever-deepening corruption and economic stagnation and unable to make Russia anything more than a purveyor of hydrocarbons just as the age of oil and gas is coming to an end. He is failing ever more obviously as a great wartime commander, 16 months after starting an invasion of Ukraine that he expected to be over in a matter of days but which has turned into a quagmire. Now he has shown that he cannot even discharge a leader’s first and greatest responsibility, to ensure the security of the state‘Whether Mr Putin’s fall comes soon, or in months or years, he stands revealed as a blunderer. He is not so much a tsar as simply the top thug in the hollowed-out gangland to which he has reduced Mother Russia. What is more, in a world where power is everything, he now looks like a weakened thug. The EconomistJuly 1st, 2023Hellsichtige Worte…. #security #power #oilandgas #hydrocarbons #leader

"Iran’s emphasis on prior warning in its attack was a deliberate effort to convey that Iran was more interested in sending a message of strength than in inflicting a decisive blow on Israel. However, the lack of desire for war does not mean that Iranian officials are not treading a risky path."Following Iran’s direct attack on Israel on 13th April, Hamidreza Azizi of Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP) examines both the official and unofficial discourse in Iran in recent days. He writes that most political experts and analysts in Iran seem to agree that Iran’s goal has been to restore deterrence and not to enter into war. However, concerns about the outbreak of an unintended war and its destructive consequences appear to be more pronounced among experts than among official figures.Read the full commentary here ⤵ https://lnkd.in/eHJ6iiCP

At ELN we regularly publish analyses of the debates inside Iran on the country’s foreign policy, regional conflicts, international diplomacy and other factors that may affect prospects for future diplomacy to successfully limit Iran’s nuclear programme and uphold international nonproliferation norms. Here’s a timely commentary by Hamidreza Azizi on the different perspectives inside Iran.

Fresh from an election in which he was the only viable contender, Russia’s Vladimir Putin came out swinging against the West, vowing that peace in Ukraine would come only on his terms, and warning that if NATO put boots on the ground, it could mean nuclear war.Putin’s landslide victory in the weekend’s carefully-choreographed vote was widely anticipated. Credible rivals have either been jailed or barred from the ballot, or are dead. But the aftermath has seen him kick up his rhetoric a little higher, and he is using it to suggest that only an outright victory in Ukraine would be acceptable to the Russian people—or, failing that, a lopsided peace with Moscow dictating the terms.“We are for peace negotiations…but it is not because the enemy is running out of ammunition,” Putin told a news conference in the early hours of Monday, after election officials said he won an unprecedented 87% of the vote. “We are for it, if they are truly serious [and] in the long term they want to build peaceful, good neighborly relations between the two states, and not take a pause for 1½ to two years to rearm.”Political analysts said that with Western nations dithering on supplying continuing aid to Ukraine and support for Kyiv becoming a partisan issue in the U.S., Putin has dangled the prospect of a cease-fire, calculating that he would be bargaining from a position of power.Ukraine is outmanned and outgunned, its forces so depleted that they now only fire around two shells for every 10 Russia fires at them, according to Western intelligence estimates. Putin’s bare minimum in any peace deal now would be to ensure that the Crimean Peninsula, which Moscow seized 10 years ago, would stay under its control, along with four areas in Ukraine’s east and south that it claimed in 2022.

Has Zelensky lost the Narrative? In the first Kings Speech, King Charles will set out the UK government’s agenda for the coming parliamentary period. In an article this morning, Laura Kuenssberg suggests that, “Top of the list, the conflict in the Middle East. Whether it is the fraught practicalities of helping Brits get out of Gaza, or the diplomatic efforts to coax Israel to pause hostilities there, the conflict is naturally gobbling up political time and energy-and dominating the headlines.”Reports from the Ukraine war seem to have fallen in popularity and now routinely feature further and further down the article listings on media websites. Surprisingly, as the EU is putting a massive effort into this war with very high level visits and events: “European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen arrived in Kyiv on Saturday morning and was met by Zelenskyy at the train station. She tweeted that talks during her sixth visit would focus on the path for Ukraine to join the EU “and how we will continue to make Russia pay for its war of aggression.”The visit came a week before she was due to present a report on the enlargement of the EU, which von der Leyen said would note Kyiv’s progress on its path to membership in the 27-member bloc.“I must say you have made excellent progress. This is impressive to see,” von der Leyen said after the meeting with Zelenskyy. “We should never forget you are fighting an existential war and at the same time you are deeply reforming your country.”So, the a new contest has begun: a contest for your attention and by extension your government’s attention. Who will win the harder to justify, financial support and military aide? War in Ukraine: Zelenskyy hosts EU official von der Leyen as Russian attacks wound at least 14

https://lnkd.in/ed8Mk5_k“Pay to Slay” is the term that is 100% accurate in describing the status quo among the Arab leadership in the State of Israel today. Nobody pins a hypocrite against the wall better than Ted Cruz, and he knows that he has a total hypocrite sitting right in front of him. This is democracy doing what it does best – exposing policies that are radical to the public so that in the next round of elections, people will know who to not vote for.The Biden Administration’s major mistake was in Afghanistan. The idea of running away from a country and leaving tens of billions of dollars of weapons there will probably be viewed as one of the greatest foreign policy mistakes of the 21st century. But emboldening Iran once again to work towards completion of their nuclear weapons program is no less of a wrong-headed policy. This specific hearing though exposes the lack of a clear moral compass driving US foreign policy on Israel. It is so wrong-headed that it is hard to even fathom that US taxpayer money is actually being funneled to the families of terror victims.Israel’s friends and supporters in Congress are many. But Ted Cruz has always been at the very top of the list.#everlastinglifetodaytoday #thejeremiahebenezerdaily
