Making Golems valued again.

Postby Kagan »

I would love to see Golems used to thier potential. They take up 3 slots, they cant breed, and we have people with generation 3 mongbats out there than can probably take one out. I have always when starting a character started with a tinker and I did this time too but wow golems are just a novelty compared to say a mule. I would love to see them made a viable alternative to the more traditional pets.
What can be done?

Make it so they can breed?
Make them be crafted from higher metals?(Imagine a pack of Platinum Golems mmmm)
Lower them to one slot? Cause really right now golems are like someone taming a gorlilla-its cute but your not going to a dungeon with it.

I would imagine....stressing the word Imagine, that the easiet options would be in order: to change slot count, turn on breeding, then make them craftable with various ores. Any of these options would be better but would LOVE to see them breedable. Just my 2 cents..

Or maybe not breedable, pets already do that.

Another way could be to make them "feedable" with different kinds of mixtures. For example using alchemy you can create potions that require gems/ingots/woods/rare ingredients and each potion adds different stats/abilities to them. Also setting maximum amount of potions you can use (like points on levelable weapons) - instead of setting max stats (like on breeding pets)- allows for great diversity of golems you could create: ones that are good at taking hits, ones that are good at doing damage, healing golems, freezing golems, summoning golems, pack golems etc etc.

This all is a huge amount of coding though, someone would have to do the work Making Golems valued again. - Excelsior (1)

Failure is not an option, it's a standard.

This is an idea i realy like, it would also be good for crafting, make it more viable! Maybe had parts to it that only a tailor could make, like special bandies made with arcane gems for instence!

I dont like the idea of making them breedable but the ore and leveling option would be a nice touch, make them levelable like weapons, this could be a very nice project for someone able to do script and coding.

Well I had figured breeding would be the easiest thing to correct.(He says, blissfully ignorant) I assumed it was just changing the cs file of the golem itself but perhaps not. But I love th idea of anything that makes them enjoyable. I like the idea of arcane gems too alot. Imagine the run that would create, rather like the great blue diamond scare of '11.
It doesnt make sense for 2 piles of metal to breed but I figured was the easiest way to get them upgraded code-wise. But I would welcome most any change at this point! Thanks for the input. Now if we could just lure +C away from some project much more important hehe....

Another thing that would be cool for me and some others but would give a kick in the nads to some others, making them like on OSI so you could train off of them using poison damage, but that might render Trainer npc obsolete!

Found a custom ingot golem script on RunUO. It appears to be 2.0 but I thought maybe +C might want to take a look at it! Making Golems valued again. - Excelsior (4)

Great find. I've put it in my scripts here, to keep me reminded. Seems cool.
