Final Fantasy 14 has a rich main story, but there is much more to see in its world than the Main Scenario Quests. Players have many options of content to pursue, be it fighting iconic bosses to trying to focus on fashion by using glamours. These features include the MMO's Field Operations, also known as Exploration Zones.

Before Shadowbringersintroduced The Bozjan Southern Front, Stormblood (now included in the game's Free Trial) added The Forbidden Land, Eureka to Final Fantasy 14's Field Operations. This whole new area could be explored alone or in parties and offers many rewards relevant to this day, including exclusive mounts, minions, and armor sets, on top of being tied to Stormblood's relic weapons. How To Unlock Eureka

This quest will unlock Eureka Anemos. This content is entirely unrelated to Eureka Orthos, the Deep Dungeon added in Endwalker.

Eureka will only be available once the player has completed level 70 Main Scenario Quest "Stormblood". After that, the content unlock quest (marked with a blue symbol) will be available with Galiena (X: 9.8, Y: 12.5) in Rhalgr's Reach. It is called "And We Shall Call It Eureka", and will send the adventurer to Kugane, where they need to talk to Kotokaze (X: 10.2, Y: 10.1) in the Shiokaze Hostelry. After a cutscene, the player must proceed to Pier #1, where they will interact with Rodney (X: 8.5, Y: 14.2) to initiate the duty and enter the Isle of Val.

After that, whenever the player wishes to return to Eureka, they need only to talk to Rodney in Kugane to be taken there.

While Eureka works similarly to a duty, it can be explored completely alone, or in parties of up to eight players. The instance isn't unique to each party and can contain 144 players simultaneously. Once inside, things work a little differently from the open world and other duties, though that will soon be explained. The first thing the player should remember to do is attune to the aetheryte and pick up the quests available with Gerolt (X: 18.0, Y: 32.2) and Krile (X: 18.4, Y: 31.8).

These quests will have a simple marker, as shown in the picture above. Their objectives also won't be marked on the map, as Krile will simply indicate a direction the player should head towards and some clue about what/where to look for the next objective. All of her requests must be completed, as this is always a requirement to open the next Eureka area. Below is a short and quick list of what is necessary to unlock the remaining Eureka areas after Anemos:

  • The Forbidden Land, Eureka Pagos: Complete Krile's requests, reach elemental level 17, and pick up the quest "And We Shall Call It Pagos" with Rodney (X: 8.5, Y: 14.2) on Pier #1 in Kugane.
  • The Forbidden Land, Eureka Pyros: Complete Krile's requests, reach elemental level 35, and pick up the quest "And We Shall Call It Pyros" with Rodney (X: 8.5, Y: 14.2) on Pier #1 in Kugane.
  • The Forbidden Land, Eureka Hydatos: Complete Krile's requests, reach elemental level 50, and pick up the quest "And We Shall Call It Hydatos" with Rodney (X: 8.5, Y: 14.2) on Pier #1 in Kugane.

How Does Eureka Work In Final Fantasy 14?

Upon entering Eureka, players will notice they will be synced to level 70 and item level 300 if they are above that. Those measures won't be as relevant here, as in this duty it will be the elemental level that will measure the adventurer's strength. This level can be increased by defeating enemies inside Eureka, as their powers will be imbued with a particular element. An icon to the left of the creature's name will let players know which is their element, allowing for different tactics when approaching them in combat.

Defeating those enemies will lead players to gain elemental experience points, though the exact number will vary depending on the difficulty of the enemy defeated and the number of players in the party. Killing enemies in sequence within a short window of time will lead to an EXP chain. When this happens, players will gain more elemental EXP for enemies subsequently defeated, and can receive more rewards or better rewards. These rewards include prothean crystals, used to enhance Eureka gear.

The elemental EXP is shared between all jobs, which means someone playing as Reaper at elemental level 20 can switch to any other job and remain at elemental level 20 - including jobs that haven't reached level 70 yet. It's important to remember any EXP earned in Eureka won't be carried to other parts of the game.

The duty has a time limit of 180 minutes, and after that, the player will have to leave. This won't reset any progress made, including the elemental experience earned, which will be saved for whenever the player returns to Eureka later on.

It's worth noting that while leaving the instance won't result in a loss of elemental points, being KO'd will. The only way not to receive a penalty in this case is to be revived by another player within ten minutes. Players with elemental level 5 or below won't be penalized, but players with elemental level 11 or above might have their EXP reduced below zero, in which case they will lose an elemental level.

The game will also present the player with Notorious Monsters (NM) - enemies that cannot be defeated by one player alone. It is advised to seek out other players to complete these objectives, as they will give greater rewards than smaller monsters, some of which are required to progress in Eureka. Not every NM will be readily available, though, and some demand specific conditions to be met first.

Other than using the chat (in Say, Yell, or Shout mode, depending on the distance to other players), the Adventurer List is the means to find other players and form parties to explore Eureka. Sometimes people leveling up in Eureka will naturally group up, killing enemies together despite not being in a party, though this method is unreliable and might not always work. Regardless of how the player chooses to do it, forming a party will make it a lot simpler and faster to progress within Eureka.

How To Use The Magia Board In Eureka

The Magia Board will be introduced in Eureka Anemos, and it imbues the player with certain elemental aspects, according to the crystals they gather by defeating enemies. Through the board, it's then possible to use the elements to increase the damage dealt to some enemies, while reducing the damage taken from others. This is adjusted by affixing or removing magicite, something done through the Magia Melder, which can be found in any encampment in Eureka.

The board can also be adjusted while on the field by spinning it. This is a quick means to change the elemental affinities, and it costs one unit of magia aether - a resource that gradually accumulates over time, but that can be entirely restored by interacting with a Magia Melder. Instead of adjusting the levels of each element with the exact number of magicite desired, spinning will switch the places of the magicite already added, effectively changing the elements used to strengthen the player.

It's always important to remember how the elements relate to each other to best make use of them. The bottom left part of the image above shows that Fire is strong against Ice, Ice is strong against Wind, and Wind is strong against Fire. Similarly, Lightning is strong against Water, Water is strong against Earth, and Earth is strong against Lightning.

Increasing the affinity to the element that prevails against another found in an enemy is a good strategy. However, players should also note that increasing the affinity to that same element can also be useful, as they will receive less damage from the opponent. When facing a Fire-aspected enemy, for example, increasing the Wind affinity will help the player deal more damage, but increasing their own Fire affinity will make them more resistant to their adversary's attacks.

Targeting an enemy will indicate their elemental strength and the element to counter them with, as shown above.

What Are Bunny FATEs In Eureka

In Eureka Pagos, a new type of FATE is introduced, commonly referred to as Bunny FATEs. The name comes from the fact that, in this event, players have to save Happy Bunnies from danger. Finishing the FATE with a gold rating will lead the player to be followed by a bunny, which will lead them to a treasure when interacting with a Lucky Carrot.

After using the Carrot, the player will be directed to a direction, and after reaching a certain location, a treasure will be revealed. Mounts and minions are among the possible rewards from this.

How Do Logos Actions Work In Eureka

Another element unique to Eureka that will be added later on is the Logos Action. These are duty actions that can only be used while in Eureka Pyros and Hydatos. Right at the beginning of Eureka Pyros, it will be explained that to get Logos, players will need crystals called logograms, which should be taken to Drake in the encampment (he will be near the Logos Manipulator).

The NPC will convert them into mnemes, which are stored in the Logos Manipulator. Players can store up to 200 mnemes of each type, and use the Manipulator to turn them into Logos Actions by making different combinations.

The Dawntrial expansion will hopefully see more great content added to Final Fantasy 14. Here are some additions we'd love to see.

Synthetizing the Logos Action will add it to the Logos Action Window. Initially, players can store up to three sets of one or two Logos Actions, but the Logos Action Window's capacity can be increased by one after obtaining an Aethertight Flask (found only in silver Happy Bunny coffers in Eureka Hydatos). The item must be given to the Expedition Alchemist, and the process can be completed three times, leading to six additional Logos Action sets.

Through the Logos Action Window, it's possible to assign Logos Actions as Duty Actions. It's important to note it isn't possible to do the opposite and move Duty Actions back to the Logos Action Window. Similarly, once assigned, the Logos Actions will be lost when the player leaves the duty. There are 56 Logos Actions in total, and the Logos Action Log keeps track of any acquired.

Prothean crystals are the most common reward received and can be used to enhance Eureka's gear. A second type of crystal, called Anemos, can be exchanged alongside +2 gear to receive the strongest variant of the gear. Items necessary for Stormblood's relic weapon and gear are also found in Eureka, so making this content necessary to fully unlock it. The Elemental Armor, a set specific to Eureka, can only be acquired there.

Players can also get lockboxes while exploring Eureka. Those can be opened by speaking to the Expedition Lockpicks in the base camps or talking to R'ghonati (X: 8.0, Y: 14.0) in Kugane. They can contain various prizes, such as materia, minions, and mounts, including most notably the Demi-Ozma mount. Triple Triad Cards, ingredients, reagents, hairstyles, as well as glamour and housing items can also be gained throughout the four Eureka areas.
